Run your first assessment
A step-by-step quick start, from verifying your domain to reading your first findings.
This walkthrough uses the Full Security Snapshot, the most common first assessment. It is passive and needs nothing installed.
1. Verify your domain
Open Settings → Domains, enter your domain (for example example.com) under Add a domain and choose Add. Verisight shows a DNS TXT record:
Name: _verisight-challenge.example.com
Type: TXT
Value: verisight-domain-verification=<your token>
Add it at your DNS provider, wait a few minutes and choose Check DNS record. Once the domain is verified, its subdomains are covered too. Leave the record in place. It is checked again later. The full guide is in Verifying a domain.
2. Order the assessment
Open Assessment Products → Full Security Snapshot. Pick your verified domains and add any exclusions, meaning hosts you do not want touched. Then place the order:
- if your plan includes a Snapshot this period, the order is fulfilled immediately and costs nothing;
- otherwise you are sent to secure Stripe checkout. The assessment is created as soon as payment is confirmed.
3. Authorise and start
Open the new assessment from Assessments. In the authorisation card:
- Check the authorisation reference and the Starts / Expires window.
- Confirm the domain-ownership panel shows your domains as verified.
- Read the scan declaration and tick it. Your acceptance is recorded with the time, your account and your IP address.
- Choose Authorise and start.
More detail is in Authorising an assessment.
4. Follow progress
The status moves through queued → collecting → evaluating → reporting → completed. You can close the page; the run carries on without you.
5. Read the results
On the completed assessment you will find:
- Top 3 risks, prioritised from severity, confidence and exposure;
- Findings, each with its evidence, rationale and fix guidance;
- Generate PDF for a shareable report;
- the Remediation Pack (Essentials and above) with step-by-step fixes and validation checklists.
