Continuous monitoring
Re-assess your domains on a schedule, track posture over time and get alerted to meaningful change.
Continuous monitoring re-runs collection on a schedule and compares each run with the last, so you see what changed without ordering a new assessment each time. It's available on Essentials and above.
Create a monitoring subscription
Monitoring is created from an existing, active authorisation, so its scope is exactly what you already authorised.
- Run and authorise a domain assessment first (see Authorising an assessment).
- Open Monitoring and create a subscription.
- Give it a name and choose a cadence: hourly, daily, weekly or monthly.
- Select the authorisation reference. The domains, exclusions, mode and expiry are copied from it and can't be edited here.
- Save. The first run sets your baseline.
The authorisation is re-checked before every run, and your DNS ownership record is re-checked too.
Managing a subscription
From Monitoring you can see each subscription's cadence, scope, last and next run and recent changes, and you can:
- Run now for an immediate run;
- Pause and Resume;
- open the posture trend and, on vCISO, the Executive Brief.
When monitoring pauses itself
A monitor is paused automatically, with a notification, when:
- the domain's DNS ownership record has been removed;
- the authorisation it was created from is no longer valid, for example because it expired or was created before the current scan declaration.
To fix it, restore the DNS record, or authorise a new assessment and create the monitor from that authorisation.
Monitors created before October 2026
Monitors created from typed-in domains, or from an authorisation without an accepted scan declaration, are paused at their next run. Re-authorise an assessment and create a new monitor from it.
